Through the SIM registration details, the police reached out to the person in whose name the SIM was issued, however, he said that he did not send the message and a few days ago, his mobile phone and SIM were stolen.
Police then used footage from CCTV cameras to identify 10 suspects around the scene. Among them was Pratab Singh.

The similarity of spelling of the same word in both the text messages raised the suspicion of the police and Ram Pratab Singh was arrested. After his arrest, Pratab Singh also confessed to his crime.
