Florida: The Florida government has asked the public to cook and eat dragonflies because of their rapid population growth because they contain nutrients so that we can reduce the number of dragons.
Donna Kell, a Florida woman, has eaten more than a dozen “Burmese pythons” in three years, spreading rapidly in the area. In South Florida, the Water Management Authority and other agencies say people would be happy if they killed the Burmese python.
These dragons are known in Florida as “invading animals” that are a threat to other endemic species and can affect the food chain. That’s why Carly Siegelson, a spokeswoman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, said the dragon meat was safe and edible to eat.
Florida, on the other hand, has already reduced the number of other unwanted animals by eating them, including line fish and iguana. Some experts believe that the Burmese python may be contaminated with mercury and that its nerve venom may be dangerous to humans.
There is now a great deal of research being done in this context and pieces of Burmese python meat have been sent to laboratories for review, but some people are still eating it and after a detailed report it was included in the Florida food book.
People who have eaten python cook it in a pressure cooker for 10 to 15 minutes and add ginger, onion, pasta and sauce.
On the other hand, experts from the US Food and Drug Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency have said that based on their experiments, if an item contains 0.3 parts per 1 million mercury, it is safe to eat, while some dragons have this amount. 100 times more.
Another recent revelation is that the value of mercury in Burmese pythons in southwestern Florida and northern Naples is five parts per million.
