Pune: A statue has been erected in India to pay homage to an intelligent and talented dog who helped solve 49 cases and nab the culprits.
According to the International News Agency, a statue of a German Shepherd dog belonging to the police dock squad has been installed in Muzaffarnagar district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The statue was created to pay tribute to the dog for his services.
The dog recently died of medical complications. The trained dog was also given the honorary rank of ASP.
The unveiling ceremony of the statue was held at the police line with the participation of senior police officers. Senior police officer Abhishek Yadav wrote in his tweet that the trained dog, who joined Muzaffarnagar police in 2014, had solved 49 cases.
Police officers shared photos of the ceremony and the dog statue on social media, with users paying tribute to the services of the German Shepherd dog and appreciating the police move.
