SYDNEY: Despite being included in the top four countries in the Asia-Pacific region, India has slipped out of the ranks of major powers, according to a global body survey.
According to a foreign news agency, the Louis Institute, an international organization based in Australia, has released the Asia Power Index for 2020 in which India has gained 40 points less than last year.

The agency says the region’s second-largest country in terms of population is now a middle-class power in the Asia-Pacific. The corona virus has affected India’s ability to grow the most in the region.
According to the report, in terms of population and other conditions in the region, India can compete with China, but in the changing situation, India does not see the possibility of reaching around China. Earlier, it was predicted that in the next decade, India would be equal to 50% of China’s economic growth, but in the current situation, it is difficult to cross the 40% mark.
According to the Louis Institute, India has certainly increased its diplomatic influence, but there are two dimensions to the defense network and economic relations on which India’s performance has declined.

The institute’s report also points to a decline in Indian influence in the region. According to which, in the past under the influence of India in Nepal, now China has become many times more influential. The report says that India wants to take stock of its situation and if it wants to become a superpower, it will not be easy to achieve this goal even after decades of hard work.
