Tribute to Abdul Rehman Peshawari, an important character in ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’

The actor of the popular Turkish drama ‘Ertugrul Ghazi’ based on Islamic conquests, which was aired with Urdu translation on Pakistan’s state-run PTV, has paid tribute to Abdul Rehman Peshawari, a member of the Ottoman army.

Jalalullah, who played the role of Abdul Rehman Alp (Soldier) in Ertugrul Ghazi, paid tribute to Bahadur Abdul Rehman Peshawari from the subcontinent in Facebook’s photo sharing app Instagram Story.

He wrote that Abdur Rehman Peshawari was a brave man who sold his books and jacket and after a difficult journey joined the army of the Ottoman Empire during the Balkan Wars.

He added that when his mother asked him to return from the war, the great hero replied that the Turks were difficult and could not return.

He was later appointed Turkish Ambassador to Afghanistan between 1920 and 1922 due to his fluency in Pashto, Persian and English.

He fought alongside Mustafa Kemal Atat کمrk in the Turkish War of Independence. He was wounded three times and was martyred in Istanbul in 1925.

When the Anadolu Agency was founded 100 years ago on April 6, 1920, by Turkish leaders due to the importance of the media, Abdur Rehman Peshawari had the honor of being its first reporter.

He said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had talked about the role of Abdur Rehman Peshawari which had created interest among the people to know about him.
