AMSTERDAM – The European Medicines Agency (EMA), the European Union’s main medical body, on Monday described the Covid 19 vaccine, developed by the AstraZeneca company, as “effective and safe”.
These views were expressed by EMA Executive Director, Emer Cook at an online press conference.
It should be noted that after the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in various European countries, after severe adverse effects such as blood clots and low platelets in many people, so far the use of this vaccine has been stopped in 18 European countries while the number is increasing.
However, statistics show that the vaccine was administered to 20 million people in European countries, of whom 469 reported severe blood clots.
In this regard, the rate of severe adverse / side effects has been very modest ie 0.002345%.
This means that if 1 million people were vaccinated, only 23.45 of them would experience these extreme adverse effects.
In addition, 25 middle-aged women under the age of 55 in European countries also complained of low platelets after being vaccinated, although the number is much lower.
In simple terms, these figures imply that the severe side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine are minimal; And that this vaccine can be continued.
At the press conference, Emer Cook also said that the EMA is constantly monitoring the efficacy and side effects of all vaccines used in Europe to prevent coronavirus and that scientific research is ongoing in this regard.

It should be noted that this vaccine, like any other vaccine, has some side effects, but they are very minor. However, there are definitely a few people out of millions who have severe negative symptoms when using this vaccine.
However, for a large part of the population, the vaccine is perfectly safe and can be administered without any hassle.
