Shahid Afridi joins Lanka Premier League team Gal Gladiators

The drafting of players for the five teams in the Lanka Premier League has been completed where two former captains of the Pakistan team, Shahid Afridi and Sarfraz Ahmed, were acquired by the Gladiators.

According to Kirk Info, the owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Quetta Gladiators has bought the cheek gladiators and Wasim Akram was involved as a mentor for the selection of players.

According to the rules, each team in the league has to select 6 foreign players and a total of 30 international cricketers will play in the league.

Each team in the league will have a squad of 19 players and the number of local players participating in the league will be 65.

The Cheek Gladiators team consists of 4 players from Pakistan.

The team includes Shahid Afridi, Sarfraz Ahmed (wicket keeper), Azam Khan and Mohammad Amir, as well as Lasith Malinga, Hazratullah Zazai from Afghanistan.

Other players include New Zealand’s Colin Ingram, Sri Lanka’s Dinushka Ganathilaka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Akila Dananjaya, Melinda Sarvardane, Lakishan Sandikan, Sheehan Jayasuriya, Asitha Fernando, Nova Thoshara, Muhammad Shiraz, Dhananjaya Lakshanchi and Chanaka ۔

The Colombo Kings’ squad includes Andre Russell, Fife Dupleix and Angelo Mathews.

Chris Gayle, the famous West Indies T20 cricketer, has been acquired by Candy Tuskers where Kosal Pereira, Liam Plunkett, Wahab Riaz and other prominent players are present.

The Dambulla Hawks have also fielded players like David Miller of South Africa, Dasan Shinaka of Sri Lanka, Niroshan Dequila and Apple Tharanga.

Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik has been selected by the Jaffna Stallions, along with Asif Ali and Usman Shinwari of the national team.

Other notable players in the Jaffna Stallions include David Milan, while Sri Lanka’s Thessara Perera, Saranga Lakmal and Aveshka Fernando are also part of the squad.

The Lanka Premier League kicks off on November 21 with five teams.

It may be recalled that Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) officials have already said that the quarantine period of players coming from abroad to participate in the league has been reduced from 14 days to seven days.

There are currently no reports of coronavirus transmission locally in Sri Lanka, but quarantine conditions have been tightened to prevent further spread of the virus from infected people.
