PSL 2021: Announcement of List of Famous Foreign Players Available

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the names of 25 prominent foreign players who have announced their availability for next season’s Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The platinum list of 25 foreign players for the sixth edition of the league has been finalized, including David Miller, Rashid Khan, Chris Gayle and Dale Steyn.

At the end of last month, the process of change and decision making in various franchises had started before the drafting for the sixth edition of PSL.

Earlier, the category of players for the next season of the league was renewed while the management of the league had also announced a pick order for the draft process.

According to a statement issued by the PCB on Tuesday, David Malone, Devine Bravo, Chris Lane, Alex Hills, Morne Morkel, Muhammad Nabi, Imran Tahir, Tom Benton and Chris were among the foreign players included in the Platinum category. Jordan is also included.

However, some of these players will be partially available for the PSL 2021 schedule window in February and March.

Following the announcement of foreign players for the Platinum category, the six PSL franchises may release or retain players in their squads before drafting in Lahore on January 10.

Each team can retain a maximum of eight players, the PCB statement said.

Elaborating further on the foreign players, the cricket board said that the highlight of the drafting of the sixth edition of the league was the availability of Rashid Khan, the best T20 cricketer of the International Cricket Council (ICC) of the decade.

The Afghan league spinner has so far taken 89 wickets in 48 T20 Internationals and a total of 338 in 244 T20 matches.

The statement said South Africa’s David Miller, who has not yet taken part in the event, will be the focus of the franchises.

The list also includes South Africa’s Morne Morkel and Van der Dassen, who have never been part of the PSL before. His compatriots Imran Tahir, Dale Steyn, Riley Russo and Colin Ingram, who are in the same category, have already joined the league.

Chris Gayle, who previously represented Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars, is also available for drafting the sixth edition of the league. Other West Indies players include Devine Bravo, Carlos Braithwaite, Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis.

In addition to David Milan, England’s Alex Hales, Moin Ali, Chris Jordan and Tom Benton are also in the Platinum category.

Besides Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and all-rounder Mohammad Nabi are also on the list.

Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera and Ashro Udana, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rehman and Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichane are also in the same category.

Director Commercial Babar Hamid said that he was happy to release the list of players for the platinum category consisting of famous cricketers before the drafting of PSL 2021.

He said it was a welcome development to show the availability of these well-known players despite the busy FTP schedule due to the corona virus.

He said that this year also the best competitions will be held in PSL while the event will be held in Pakistan.
