Plasma prevented 92% of corona victims from going to ventilators, the report said

Peshawar: According to a report on the usefulness of plasma for corona virus patients, 92% of patients were saved from going on ventilators through plasma.

According to the Dawn newspaperDawn newspaper, medical experts said that 48 hours after giving the plasma, another 80% of the patients showed immediate recovery.

According to medical experts, all other medical techniques were used on the most affected people of Code 19, but the patients did not improve their condition and they continued to have difficulty in breathing.

“Only those who are partially and severely affected by Corona should be given plasma,” the port stressed.

Patients who were given plasma within five days of being admitted to the hospital underwent rapid positive changes, he said.

“In addition, patients who were on ventilators on the 7th day or when they were given plasma had a lower graph of positive results,” the report said.

The report says that plasma can save the lives of COD 19 patients before their tissues are damaged.

It may be recalled that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) had on April 9 approved the use of plasma for victims in view of the increase in the death rate of Code 19.

In this regard, DRAP had appointed Dr. Tahir Shamsi, Dean and Chairman, National Institute of Blood Diseases and Bone Marrow Transplantation (NIBD), as Principal Investigator and Prof. Javed Akram and Bekha Ram as Co-Investigators.

An 8-page report on plasma (CP) therapy has been sent to DRAP, which will be released to the public in the next few weeks.

According to the report, 77.8% of the plasma recipients aged 29 to 92 years were men and 22.2% were women.

The report said that 80% of the recipients had increased their breathing from 80% to 95% within 72 hours.

According to medical experts, 92% of plasma recipients were saved from going on ventilators and after 48 hours, 80% improved.

According to the report, 20% of the patients died in which 8% had a heart attack, 8% of the patients had limb responses while 4% lost their lives due to complications related to the ventilator.

According to the report, plasma can be allowed under emergency use in Pakistan as there is no approved treatment for corona yet.

Plasma can be given to 19 patients within 3-5 days of the onset of symptoms, he said.

If we talk about the situation of corona virus in the country, then the total number of cases in the country has reached 296,149 out of which 280,970 have recovered while 6,298 have died.

According to official figures, 216 new cases and 4 deaths have been reported in the country, while 288 patients have recovered, including 121 cases from Sindh the previous day.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 36,118 people have been infected with the corona virus, while in Balochistan, the number of infected people is 12,879.
