PCB decides to hold the remaining matches of PSL 6 in June

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in consultation with Pakistan Super League (PSL) team owners, has decided to hold the remaining 20 matches of the current season in Karachi in June, which have been postponed due to corona virus cases.

According to a statement issued by the PCB, a virtual meeting of PC and PSL franchise owners was held where various windows were discussed.

The meeting also considered holding matches in March or April, but decided that the tour of South Africa would be on schedule and the rest of the matches would be held in June when available.

The meeting also agreed to hold all the 20 postponed matches of PSL 2021 in Karachi.

According to a statement issued by the PCB, due to the international engagements of the national cricket team in May, April and August, September, the June window was declared the most suitable for the event.

The remaining 20 matches of the event will now be scheduled in the available time between the national cricket team’s return from Zimbabwe on May 13 and departure to England on June 26, the statement said.

According to the board, the PCB management will now contact the franchise owners and other stakeholders after reviewing the operational and logistical arrangements for the remaining matches of the event.

It may be recalled that the PCB had on March 4 announced the indefinite postponement of the remaining matches of the league on the identification of corona virus in seven more players in the PSL.

The PCB had said that the board had immediately postponed PSL 6 after a virtual meeting between the PCB and the team owners.

The statement said that the PCB would now immediately take steps for PCR testing, corona vaccine and isolation facilities for all six team participants.

Later, PCB chief executive Wasim Khan had said that PSL 6 would be completed on a suitable date like last season.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Wasim Khan had said that he confirmed the postponement of the sixth season of PSL that PSL 6 has been postponed till new dates and this day is very difficult for us.

“This is a difficult day for us as well as cricket fans, stakeholders, Pakistan cricket fans globally, all the players and officials who were associated with the PSL,” he said.
