New treatment for corona virus: sniffing nanobody

Pittsburgh: American scientists have invented a drug for the corona virus that contains biomolecules called nanobodies that can be used by sniffing.

The drug is currently in the early experimental stages and has been successfully tested on hamsters.

Note that “nanobodies” (nanobodies) are actually very small antibodies that are considered to be better and more effective than antibodies in the treatment of various diseases.
The new nanobody against the corona virus has been developed by experts at the University of Pittsburgh, and the treatment based on it has been dubbed the “Pittsburgh Inhaled Nanobody 21” (PiN 21).

According to research published in the latest issue of the research journal Science Advances, this nanobody not only kills the disease by inactivating the corona virus, but also prevents it from re-invading.

The hamster’s lungs were artificially infected with the corona virus for experiments.

They were then given a very small amount of “pin 21” nanobody (at the rate of 0.6 mg per kilogram).

The nanobody began to work as soon as the hamsters reached the lungs, and the Corona virus began to decrease in intensity, until ten days later the virus was completely gone.

After recovery, the hamsters were re-injected with the corona virus through the nose (by inhalation), but scientists were pleasantly surprised to learn that the nanobody (PiN 21) thwarted a second attack of the corona virus.

It was a testament to the fact that even after so many days, the nanobody was effective and efficient.

In the second phase of these experiments, hamsters infected with the corona virus were placed in nanobody vapor boxes.

The rate of nanobody vapor in the air inside these boxes was even lower, at only 0.2 mg per kilogram.

In this environment, apart from the nose and mouth of hamsters, their whole body was also in front of the nanobody.

In these experiments, the nanobody proved to be six times more effective and quickly eliminated the corona virus in hamsters.

Following successful experiments in hamsters, this team of experts is awaiting FDA approval for the initial testing of this nanobody in humans.

If this nanobody proves to be just as effective in humans, it is hoped that soon the Corona vaccine, along with another low-cost treatment, will be available, especially for those who are moderately affected by the disease.

Not only this, with the help of nanobodies we will have a new way of treating other diseases.
