Defeat Multan Sultans Lahore Qalandars reached the final for the first time

Karachi: Lahore Qalandars reached the final for the first time by defeating Multan Sultans in the second eliminator of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Five.

Multan Sultans are batting in pursuit of the target set by Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator Two of PSL 5 being played at National Stadium Karachi. Zeeshan Ashraf 12 while Adam Laith was caught by Fakhr Zaman after completing half a century. Shaun Masood (27), Ravi Bopara (1), Riley Russo (18) and Shahid Afridi returned to the pavilion at zero. Sohail Tanveer also made just 3 runs.

Earlier, Multan Sultans decided to field after winning the toss against Lahore Qalandars and invited the rival team to bat. Fakhruzzaman and Tamim Iqbal started the innings for Lahore Qalandars but the first wicket of Qalandars fell to 46 runs in which Tamim Iqbal was dismissed for 30 runs after which Sohail Akhtar came and after scoring only 5 runs was caught by Riley Russo. After Sohail Akhtar, Mohammad Hafeez came on the field. He and Fakhr Zaman led the innings cautiously but they could not form a big partnership and Mohammad Hafeez returned to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs on 94 runs. Sohail Tanveer was also caught on a lathe ball for 46 runs.

Lahore Qalandars’ Ben Dink’s dinka could not be played and he also made only 3 runs after which Samat Patel scored 26 runs and David Visay remained unbeaten with 48 runs.

Qalandars scored 182 runs in all overs and gave the opposing team a target of 183 runs for victory. For Multan Sultans, Shahid Afridi got two wickets while Laith, Sohail Tanveer, Mohammad Ilyas and Junaid Khan got one wicket each.

The team that wins the second eliminator of Pakistan Super League 5 will face Karachi Kings in the final.

It should be noted that Pakistan Super League 5 had to be abandoned after 40 matches due to the global outbreak of Corona virus. After 8 months, a battle has started to decide the champion of the event and the remaining matches were completed without spectators at the National Stadium Karachi is being done.
