PSL: All the journey to Peshawar end, the chances of reaching the final in Lahore are bright

In the first eliminator match of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi to advance to the final while Peshawar was eliminated from the event.

In the match played at National Stadium Karachi, Lahore Qalandars decided to field after winning the toss.

Peshawar Zalmi lost the first wicket for a run and Haider Ali was dismissed without scoring.

Sohaib Maqsood shared a 31-run stand with Imam-ul-Haq, after which his innings ended and he returned to the pavilion with an individual score of 16.

Imam-ul-Haq’s innings also came to an end with a total score of 54 and he was cut and bowled for 24 runs.

Faf Dupleix and Shoaib Malik took the team’s score to 85 after which their partnership also came to an end and Faf Dupleix was caught for 31 runs.

Peshawar’s fifth wicket also fell soon and Mohammad Imran was dismissed for 8.

Shoaib Malik was Peshawar’s leading run-scorer with 39 off 24 balls.

Hardy’s Wiljoin played an aggressive 37-run innings off 16 balls to help the team reach the big score.

Thus Peshawar Zalmi scored 170 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated overs.

Dilbar Hussain of Lahore took 3 wickets while Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and David Wise took 2 wickets each.

In pursuit of the target, Lahore Qalandars did not have a good start and lost 3 wickets for 33 runs and Fakhr Zaman, Tamim Iqbal and captain Sohail Akhtar returned to the pavilion.

After that Muhammad Hafeez and Ben Dunk took the team’s score to 88 runs after which Ben Dunk was caught out.

Mohammad Hafeez did not give up despite losing wickets from time to time and not only completed a half century by batting brilliantly, but also teamed up with David Visa to lead the team to victory.

He remained unbeaten on 74 off 46 balls while David Wiese remained unbeaten on 16.

Lahore Qalandars achieved the target of 171 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 19 overs to reach the final one step further, while Peshawar Zalmi was out of the event.

For Peshawar, Saqib Mehmood took 3 wickets while Rahat Ali and Mohammad Imran took one wicket each.

Muhammad Hafeez was awarded Man of the Match for his excellent batting.

In the second eliminator match of PSL, Lahore Qalandars will face Multan Sultans on Sunday.
