New Orleans: This year we have seen the horrific outbreak of the Corona virus epidemic ‘Code 19’ and it is still going on. But now, thanks to a platform installed on a smartphone, the virus can be accurately identified in just 15 minutes.
It does not require any laboratory or specialist, but so far it has been tested on very few people. The study, conducted by experts at the University of Tulin, was published in the Journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
The technology was tested on 12 people who became infected with the corona virus and contracted code 19, while six other completely healthy people were included. Research has shown very positive results in this regard. Here Professor Bo Ning and his colleagues have also demonstrated this system in practice. It uses a pair of fluorescence microscopes. It contains a sample of saliva. It is first passed through the genetic technique Crisper and is a complex process.
This process is called reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). The result appears on the smartphone. This low cost and quick test can be performed. The Corona tests currently in use require high quality safety equipment and a trained process. But no such thing is required for this test.
In this regard, a sample of saliva is placed on a sensitive chip. This pattern is enhanced by the enzyme Crisper, CAS12A. This increases the RNA target signal in the saliva. The sample is then placed on a fluorescent microscope and the results are displayed on the smartphone.
The 12 people who have been tested have successfully differentiated between the sick and the healthy. He successfully identified the virus sample and in which sample the virus was absent.
