Doctors in France have reported the first case in which a newborn baby was infected with the corona virus before birth.
Details of the case were published in a study published in the journal Nature Communications.
So far, there is limited evidence that a mother infected with the corona virus can transmit the disease to her baby during pregnancy.
But researchers at Antonio Besleire Hospital confirmed that coronavirus could be transmitted to a baby in the mother’s womb during pregnancy.
The case involved a 23-year-old woman who was admitted to the hospital March 24 with a fever and cough and was in her 35th week of pregnancy.
The woman was diagnosed with the corona virus, which led to an operation to deliver the baby, which was immediately transferred to the ICU.
The child tested positive for the virus, which he later recovered and was discharged from the hospital 18 days later.
The researchers said that the virus was transmitted to the baby through the mother before birth and did not occur after birth for any reason.
He said the mother’s examination showed severe inflammation in the duct to which the baby is attached and through which the corona virus was transmitted to the newborn.
He said there had been cases of children infected with the corona virus before, but so far it was not possible to say with certainty that they had contracted the disease in the mother’s womb.
According to her, it is now proven that this is possible in the last weeks of pregnancy, but she also said that the possibility of such cases is very low or non-existent.
“Pregnant women need to be reassured that even if they have such a problem, in most cases the baby will not be harmed,” she added.
Little is known about the long-term effects of coronavirus in pregnant women and their babies.
