VChat and TickTalk temporarily evade US ban

The United States recently announced that US users will be banned from downloading TikTak and VChat apps from September 20.

In this regard, the US Department of Commerce had also issued an order that users will not be able to download these apps from Sunday.

Meanwhile, VChat download rates increased by 800% over the previous week.

But as of Sunday afternoon, both apps had managed to circumvent the ban, at least temporarily.

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he was satisfied with the agreement reached between Oracle, Wal-Mart and TickTalk.

The US Department of Commerce then suspended the download of Tik Tak for a week.

On the other hand, a judge in California has issued a restraining order against the ban on VChat.

Interestingly, the TuckTuck deal was not in line with the Trump administration’s demand to sell all TuckTuck operations in the United States.

But under the new agreement, Oracle will become a reliable technology partner for TickTalk and will host all US user data in secure computer systems.

According to TuckTalk, Oracle and Wal-Mart will also invest in TuckTalk Global and own 20% of the new company.

The agreement has not yet been finalized and some details have not yet been released.

All parties say the new company will be headquartered in the United States and will create 25,000 jobs, while the agreement also stipulates a 5 billion donation to US education, which has given Tik Tak-owned company Byte Dance. Surprised

And yes, the signing of the agreement will require the signature of the Chinese government, and in view of all these factors, the ban on tuk-tuk has been postponed until September 27.

As far as VChat is concerned, its future in the United States is more uncertain.

Judge Laurel Baylor wrote in his order that a petition filed by VChat users in August proved that the ban raises serious questions about the merits of the First Amendment claim.

He wrote that the evidence suggests that VChat is only a means of communication within the community and that this is important because other apps are banned in the United States, while Chinese people unfamiliar with English have no choice.

The ruling said that although the US government had identified threats to national security, there was no evidence that the ban would be effective in addressing those concerns.

The US Department of Commerce has not yet commented on the ruling.
