The United States 59th quadrennial presidential election 2020 is scheduled on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.  With less than one week remaining before election on November 3, former vice president Joe Biden,
who is the Democratic party’s candidate, is marginally ahead of Republican president Donald Trump in some of the key battleground states. Focal issues of the political race incorporate the effect of the progressing COVID-19 pandemic , which has left more than 220,000 Americans dead.

The triumphant of the 2020 presidential election is planned to be inaugurated on January 20, 2021. If elected, Biden would become the oldest person to serve as president of the United States at 78 years old and 82 years old if he serves the whole first term, and the first candidate to win against an incumbent president in 28 years since Republican George H. W. Bush defeated by Democrat Bill Clinton in 1992.

If reelected, Trump would become the oldest president ever at 78 if he serves the whole second term surpassing Ronald Reagan who was 77 years old at the end of his second term. This is the first such occasion of the presidential election in which both major candidates are over 70. Under the Article Two of the United States Constitution the eligibility criteria for a person to serve as president, the individual must be a natural born citizen of the United States of America, should be over 35 years old and a United States resident for at least 14 years.
Candidates for the president ship generaly seek the nomination of one of the various political parties of the United States. Every party establish a method such as a primary election to elect the candidate the party consider best suited to run for the position. After that the party’s delegates officially nominate a candidate to compete on the party’s behalf.

The presidential nominee then chooses a vice presidential candidate to form that party’s ticket who is then ratified by the party delegates at the party’s convention. The general election takes place in November is also an indirect election, in which voters cast ballots for a slate of members of the Electoral College and then these electors directly elect the president and vice president.
The United States of America is going through difficult times, especially considering the impact of Covid-19 pandemic is huge. Around 75 million Americans have voted earlier and about 50 million of them have voted through post which is quite a large number and can be understood in the middle of the pandemic. The Covid-19 is also a central agenda in this closely contested election.
Both candidates often use this pandemic as their political tool in presidential debates as a part of the election process. The president Donald Trump believe that he has done well to counter Covid-19 and save many lives by containing it to a certain limit. He believes that this pandemic is near to end, the good time is near to come. He is of the opinion that if Joe Biden wins the election he is going to impose lockdown nation wide and it’s consequences will be unbearable to already struggling people.
In his rallies across US he is mocking the mask mandate. While Joe Biden has criticize Trump over the handling of the US worsening pandemic situation and called it an insult to the victims of the disease. The deaths due to the pandemic is increasing in 39 states and every day about 800 people are dying nationwide.
According to sources the White House Coronavirus task force expert Dr Anthony Fauci said, Mr Trump’s political rallies were bound to spread Covid-19 due to the fact that people stop wearing face masks and the rules of social distancing were not practising by the people. Joe Biden urge the importance of doing right things in Covid fight and promise to do the right things from the very first day at the office.
He said that he’ll not campaign on the false promises of being able to end this pandemic by flipping a switch. He said that this pandemic will take time and a lot of effort to end and he urges the people to let science drive the decisions rather than emotions.
