Many of you are now interested in learning more details about Sultan Selim I, the ninth Ottoman Sultan. Yavuz Selim I, often referred to as Selim the Grim or Selim the Resolute, was born in Amasya, Turkey, on October 10, 1470 CE. He was a child of Gulbahar Hatun and Sultan Bayezid II. He married Suleiman I’s mother, Valide Sultan (1520), as well as Hafsa Hatun Sultan (Ayse Hafsa Sultan; she passed away in 1534). On April 24, 1512, he took the oath of office to become the ninth Sultan of the Ottoman Empire at the age of 42.

Supporters of Nurettin Sonmez (Bamsi Bey) now have another reason to celebrate thanks to Dirilis Ertugrul and Kurulus Osman. The story is that Nurettin Sonmez will play Sultan Selim I’s most fierce foe, Shah Ismail.
