Unauthorized use of user information, lawsuit filed against Google

Texas: The US state of Texas filed a lawsuit against Google for using biometric data without permission. The technology company had been using the data of millions of Texas citizens for financial gain since 2015.

The lawsuit, filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, claims that Google used facial and voice recognition data from its top-grossing products, such as the Google Photos app, Nest Hub Max and Google Assistant. , used for training.

The reason Texas is suing Google is because the state has a biometric law that prohibits the use of biometric data without permission. If this law is broken, a fine of $25,000 per violation will be imposed.

The Texas Attorney General has alleged that Google did not obtain their consent from users.

A Google spokesperson said that the Attorney General is characterizing Google’s products and that the company is going to make milk and water in court.

The attorney general said that the indiscriminate personal information of the people of Texas collected by Google will not be tolerated.

He said he will continue to fight the big tech company to ensure people’s privacy and security.
