In the US congressional elections in 2018, two Muslim women, Rashida Talib and Alhan Omar, were re-elected by a huge margin, defeating rival Republican candidates.
In addition to Rashida Talib and Elhan Omar, two other women from her like-minded Democratic Party, Alexandria Ocasio Coritz and Ayana Perisley, have also been successful, according to AFP.
Rashida Talib won from Michigan while Alhan Omar won from Massachusetts.
Alexandria Ocasio Coritz and Iana Peresley, two other women who defeated the ruling Republican candidates, came from New York and Massachusetts, respectively.
“The unity of our sisters is strong,” Omar said in a statement on the social networking site Twitter.

It should be noted that this group was also named ‘The Squad’ which is a source of challenge for the government and these women have been fighting against Trump’s criticism.
It may be recalled that Rashida Talib and Alhan Omar were elected members of Congress in 2018 and both became the first Muslim women to become members of Congress in American history.
Rashida Talib is the first Palestinian woman to be elected to Congress, while Alhan Omar came to the United States as a refugee from Somalia as a child and is the first black Muslim woman to be elected to Congress.
Born in New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is from Puerto Rico and Ayana Presley is the first African-American woman to be elected to Congress.
The four women have been sharply criticized by US President Donald Trump, who said in a statement last year that “these women are from countries whose governments are completely incompetent and destructive, and the world.” They are the most corrupt in the world.
“These women are very cleverly telling the American people, the greatest and most powerful nation on the planet, how to run our government,” she said.
“Why don’t these women go back to where they came from and help fix these completely devastated and crime-ridden areas and then come back and tell us how it’s done,” the president said. ۔
