The government of Pakistan last week shut down Tik Tak for not removing immoral and inappropriate content.

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) had on October 9 shut down Tik Tak across the country for not removing pornographic material.

People from all walks of life reacted mixedly to the closure of Tik Tak across the country, but most agreed that Tik Tak should not contain pornographic material.

After the ban on Tik Tak, it is being run across the country through Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and a citizen has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court against this practice.

In the petition filed by the citizen in the Lahore High Court, the court was requested to order to stop ticking on VPN as well.

The petition acknowledged that the PTA had shut down Tik Tak under the rules and regulations, but that people across the country were still promoting pornographic material by running the app on VPNs.

There have also been reports of uninterrupted running of the desktop version of Tik Tak from across the country and many people have complained that not only the Tik Tak website is running on the computer desktop but also uploading content to the application from there.

According to many TikTak users, the computer desktop version of TikTak works just like the mobile app, and it is incomprehensible why the desktop version was not discontinued in the country.

However, neither the PTA nor the government has commented on the closure of the desktop version of Tik Tak.
