Mogadishu: At least 16 people have been killed and 43 others injured in an attack on a luxury hotel off the coast of Somalia.
According to the International News Agency, a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a hotel in the coastal area of the African nation’s capital, Somalia, causing chaos and five armed assailants entered the hotel and opened fire indiscriminately. 16 killed and 43 injured
As soon as the attack on the hotel was reported, security forces cordoned off the scene. Five assailants were killed and 12 civilians, including security personnel, were killed in the hours-long clash between the assailants and security personnel.
The dead and injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital where the condition of four injured is said to be critical. The dead have not been identified, but foreign nationals are feared to be among those killed. Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the attack.
