Beirut: Lebanese Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad and six members of parliament have resigned, apologizing to the public for the port blast and the devastation it caused.
A bomb blast near the port of Beirut has killed at least 135 people, injured more than 5,000 and destroyed hundreds of buildings, according to the International News Agency. The government has come under fire since the incident.

Lebanese Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad and six members of parliament have tendered their resignations to President Michel Naeem Aoun, apologizing to the public for the loss of precious human lives and severe financial losses in the Beirut bombings.
Along with the resigned members of the Assembly, five other members also said that they were suspending all their parliamentary activities until a session of Parliament was convened to reduce the term of the House and announce new elections.
