Sarfraz had a quality that was not found in other great captains, Mickey Arthur

Former national team head coach Mickey Arthur has revealed that he saw in former captain Sarfraz Ahmed a quality that was not even found in great captains like Graeme Smith, Michael Clarke and Misbah-ul-Haq.

Talking on YouTube on the YouTube channel of former national team captain and famous opening batsman Aamir Sohail, Mickey Arthur called Sarfraz Ahmed the best man.

“Sarfraz was a great leader. I have the honor of working with Graeme Smith, Michael Clarke and Misbah-ul-Haq. They were all good leaders but there was something in Sarfraz that I had never seen before,” he said.

He said that Sarfraz used to run and maintain discipline on the field but he had the advantage that he treated the players in a very fraternal manner in the dressing room outside the field.

He said that people have seen how he behaves in the field but people did not see the other side of Sarfraz in the dressing room and he was a very popular leader there.

The 52-year-old coach said he had a good relationship with Sarfraz and always enjoyed working with him.

He also appreciated Sarfraz’s technical knowledge regarding T20 cricket and further revealed that Sarfraz always thought beyond the game.

“I enjoyed every single moment of my work and I wanted the team to be better in every way when I left,” said Mickey Arthur, head coach of the national team. ۔

“I believe we could have won the World Cup, I am very disappointed to read that our World Cup campaign has been so devastating and disappointing, the match against the West Indies,” he said. We suffered losses and we ended the event jointly in fourth place.

“We lost to New Zealand on the overall run rate but we beat both New Zealand and England who were both finalists and I think we were the best team that ended the event in the best possible way,” he said. Because we won five of our last six matches.

Mickey Arthur, who is the head coach of the Sri Lankan team, criticized the Pakistani media, saying that it is very difficult for the media in Pakistan to cope because they do not compromise.

Expressing satisfaction over his performance as the head coach of the Pakistani team, he said that he had developed the structure of the team as well as improved the fitness of the players and brought out the young talent.

However, he lamented that after the great batsmen Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq, he could not reshape the Test team.

On this occasion, he also advised his successor and current head coach of the national team Misbah-ul-Haq to walk consistently.

“You have to be consistent in your decisions, selection of players and coaching, this is the most important thing because it will nurture the players,” he said in a message to Misbah.

It may be recalled that the Pakistan Cricket Board had decided not to retain Mickey Arthur as head coach due to his failure in the knockout stage of the 2019 World Cup and Mickey Arthur had expressed disappointment over the non-extension of his contract.
