Quit captaincy, focus on batting, advise Azhar Ali

Karachi: Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar advised Azhar Ali to quit the captaincy and focus on batting.

Pakistan Test captain Azhar Ali’s batting form has been inconsistent for the last two years, with the exception of a few good innings, he has failed miserably. He has been facing more difficulties since then, now reports are circulating that he will be removed from the Test captaincy.

In this situation, former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has advised Azhar Ali to leave the leadership and focus only on batting. In an interview, he also claimed that Azhar was forcibly made the captain.
Shoaib said that Azhar did not want to be the Test captain at first but he was forced to do so, the PCB unnecessarily increased the pressure on him and now he is being replaced.

“I advise Azhar to pay attention to his game and announce whether he wants to lead the team or not, if you have a sword hanging over your head,” said the former speed merchant. There is no point in working for me.

It may be recalled that Azhar Ali is considered very close to head coach Misbah-ul-Haq, on his recommendation he was made the captain. Because of this, he has lost the heart of the PCB officials.
