PTA directs YouTube to remove immoral and sectarian content

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has directed YouTube to immediately remove immoral and sectarian content in Pakistan.

According to the details, PTA wrote on social networking site Twitter that PTA has asked video sharing platform YouTube to broadcast immoral, obscene and nude content and hate speech and other content in Pakistan.

The PTA has issued these guidelines in view of the inappropriate, immoral, highly negative effects of pornographic material on YouTube and the presence of hate speech.

PTA has contacted YouTube to immediately remove objectionable content and prevent such content from being spread through the platform.

In addition, YouTube has been instructed to adopt an effective and moderate strategy for monitoring content so as to prevent access to disruptive content in Pakistan as well as detect and delete illegal content.
