LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the categories of 192 players for the 2020-2021 domestic contract.

The players have been selected in a transparent manner for these contract categories, with emphasis on performance and future thinking. Out of 192 players, 10 cricketers have been awarded A-plus category, which includes either the highest performing players in domestic cricket or the players who are part of the national squad but have PCB Central. Or not an emerging contract.

Head Coach and Chief Selector;

Misbah-ul-Haq, who selected the players for the A-plus category, says that he congratulates these 10 players for being a part of the A-plus category. The head coach and chief selector of the national cricket team said that he admits that it will be a difficult time for some players but it should be understood that we can select only 10 players for this category. I assure the player that his availability for the national squad will continue and the increase in his contract category next year depends on his performance in the domestic season 21-2020.

Misbah-ul-Haq further said that this contract in different categories is the result of our strategy under which we want to make Pakistan cricket tough, competitive and performance oriented, it is believed that it will increase the enthusiasm and passion of the players. Which will benefit Pakistan cricket.

A total of 38 players have been included in the A category of the announced contracts, including the 10 best cricketers who performed well in the last domestic season, the cricketers who represented Pakistan in Test and ODI cricket.

The B-category consists of a total of 47 players, including the 10 best cricketers of the last edition of the National T20 Cup (First XI) and the players who have represented Pakistan in T20 cricket. This category also includes players who performed well in first-class cricket last year, including players from the Pakistan Shaheen and Emerging teams.

Director High Performance Nadeem Khan says that he always believes in quality and performance and the contracts announced for the domestic season 21-2020 are an example of this. Instead of a fixed stipend for all the players, this time we have different categories. Has introduced a structure that differentiates between the salaries of performers, veterans and newcomers and is in line with our policy on central contracts.

Nadeem Khan added that with this new structure of contract, we are securing the future of our players playing different age group cricket, which were neglected in the past. He said that 8 cricketers playing in ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2020 and 11 emerging cricketers in Pakistan Shaheen will now be a part of this system and in the meanwhile they will get various opportunities to move forward by showcasing their talents.

The Director High Performance further said that out of these 192 contracted players, 146 have no other job while 24 had contract jobs, which shows that the PCB has shown its talented and high performance. Takes care of the players.
