ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to introduce a ‘Cyberspace Security Policy’ while securing ‘Cyberspace’.
According to Secretary, Ministry of Information Technology, Shoaib Siddiqui, work has been started on a cyberspace security policy which will be completed soon and will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval. Cyberspace security policy will also be able to control the data of Pakistani internet users. All parties will also be consulted in this regard. Data protection agencies will also be set up to work to secure the data of all Internet users in Pakistan.
Sources in the Ministry of Information Technology said that cyber attacks by India have tried to gain access to the data of more than 100 government officials.
He said that just as permission is required to enter the airspace of any country, similarly permission would be required to obtain any kind of data from the borders of Pakistan’s internet and if any hacked data could be obtained. If he tries, these attacks will be thwarted by the ‘proactive’ method.
Earlier, the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), the body that regulates the Internet in Pakistan, had directed users to register for Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
