Islamabad High Court gives 9 days to surrender Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif nine days to surrender before the court.

A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard the review petitions of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Capt. (Retd) Safdar and NAB against the decisions of accountability courts on Avonfield, Flagship and Azizia references. Lawyer Nawaz Sharif Khawaja Harris, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, Capt (retd) Safdar appeared in the court while other party leaders including Senator Pervez Rashid were also present in the court room.

During the hearing, the court ordered former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to surrender before the court and told lawyer Khawaja Harris that he was giving him an opportunity to surrender before the next hearing. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked that Nawaz Sharif should appear before the court in any case if you have any fear of arrest at the airport.
“We will issue an appropriate order on Nawaz Sharif’s request for exemption from attendance. We will issue our written order stating when to surrender while the federal government also presents its position,” the court said. ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved its judgment on the date of surrender and adjourned the hearing till September 10.
