IPhone 11 starts making in India

IPhone maker Foxconn has started making the iPhone 11 at its plant near Chennai, India. According to technology website TechCrunch, some locally made units in India have already been shipped to Apple stores, but production is currently limited.

Apple Corps has not yet commented on the matter.

Apple is reportedly taking this step to increase Apple’s production in India, but most iPhone models are still being made in China.

With the development of the iPhone in India, Apple will be able to avoid paying 20% electronics import tax to the Indian government.

During a meeting earlier this year, Apple’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook had said that the iPhone maker would open its first retail store in India next year.
