Types of heatstroke:

In the case of heatstroke, the body temperature suddenly rises to 104, 105 and in other cases to 106. All of a sudden the body temperature rises within 10 to 15 minutes. This condition is called hyperthermia in medical parlance.
Explaining this, Dr. Liaqat Ali, Deputy Director, National Institute of Child Health, Karachi, told Express News that heatstroke can be described in two ways:

First: Excessive heatstroke and

Second: Non-exclusive headstroke

Excessive heat stroke caused by hard work and activity. This condition is most likely to affect athletes or workers who exercise hard in the heat. This type of heatstroke is one of the three leading causes of sudden death in athletes, especially athletes.

On the other hand, even hard workers working in the scorching sun, if they suffer from heatstroke, it will be a condition of exertional heatstroke.

The second type of non-excruciating heatstroke means that men, children and women are out of work and exposed to heat. However, he did not do any extraordinary hard work and sweat. Such people can also suffer from heatstroke and this condition can be fatal.

Thus, in both cases, both types of people may experience heat stroke or heat stroke.

Dr. Liaqat said that in 2015, there was a huge loss of life in Karachi’s heatwave, while in 2017, 40 to 50 children were killed by a similar heat wave in the United States.

Symptoms of heatstroke in children and adults

The body warms up and the temperature rises rapidly to 103 or 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

The baby’s face becomes hot and red and the skin also becomes dry. Even the glowing face turns unusually red. The second sign is that the pulse becomes faster, the baby loses its limbs and loosens. Exactly the same conditions can occur in adults.

In addition, there is a severe headache. The headache is so severe that the patient begins to ache. The second condition is that the anxiety can increase to such an extent that the patient is unable to make any decision.

Muscle cramps and heart palpitations, nervousness and nausea are also among the conditions of heat stroke. It also causes sweating and some people lose their mental state.

Treatment of heatstroke

Heatstroke is an emergency condition in which the first thing to do is to lower the temperature. Attempts are made to reduce this temperature as soon as possible.

Dr. Liaqat said that for this, keep the patient away from the sun and bring him in the shade. Whether the patient is conscious or has lost his nerve, it is important to protect him from the sun.

Then lay down the person suffering from heatstroke and take off the unnecessary clothes.

Then try to lower the body temperature and soak a cloth or towel in cold water and apply it all over the body. Wet the clothes during this time. Try to keep the clothes wet for 15 to 20 minutes. This reduces sweating. This is how the body starts getting cold.

If the temperature is not low, you can make ice cubes. Otherwise, dip a towel in cold water and rub it on the armpits, on the top and bottom of the abdomen, or leave the pieces of cold cloth there.

If he still does not feel well, try to take him to the hospital immediately.

Dr. Liaqat said that when severe heat stroke patients are brought to the hospital, they are kept in the same facilities and setup as the ICU. Try to give paracetamol or penadol if the patient needs to be given medicine. But drugs with anesthetic and desperation formulas should not be given.

Heatstroke Prevention Measures

Dr. Liaqat told Express that public awareness is very important in all these conditions, whether it is diarrhea or heat stroke. Each disease awareness and medical education requirement may be different. Here are some tips to help you avoid heatstroke.
