Austrian tennis star Dominic Theme set a new record at the US Open by defeating Alexander Zverev after a nerve-wracking battle and became the first Austrian to win a Grand Slam.
Second-seeded Dominic Theme’s victory in the event is historic in that he lost the first two sets of the match and became the first player to become champion after losing the first two sets in US Open history.
There was another date in this final match which lasted for 4 hours and two minutes and that was that for the first time the final set was decided by tie break.
This is the first Grand Slam of the 27-year-old Australian’s career to be won, having lost three Grand Slam finals before and the first time since the 2014 US Open that a new tennis world champion has been found. There is only one chance since 2016 that Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have become champions.

At the start of the final match, Alexander Zverev appeared in excellent form and took a 2-0 lead in the first set with a score of 2-6 in just 30 minutes.
This lead was also driven to some extent by the mistake of Dominic Theme, who committed two double faults three times while performing poor service.

He did not face much difficulty in the fourth set and his confidence reached new heights when he tied the match 2-2 with a 3-6 set.
However, the fifth set of the match proved to be a nerve-wracking one in which both the rivals worked hard for the victory and at one stage with a lead of 3-5 became the favorites with Xavier Championship points.

But they could not maintain the lead and Theme once again came back from a deficit to take a 5-6 lead in the set but like Xavier they could not get the championship points.

During the tie-break, Xavier looked a little tired and Theme took the opportunity to win the match at the tie-break and become the champion.
Dominic Theme won the Grand Slam for the first time and won 3 million.
