JALALABAD: At least 15 people have been killed in a stampede outside the Pakistani consulate in the Afghan city of Jalalabad.
According to Reuters, about 3,000 Afghans, including women and the elderly, gathered outside the Pakistani consulate in Jalalabad this morning to obtain visa tokens.

As soon as the window of the consulate opened, the crowd of people seeking tokens went out of control and a stampede ensued, killing at least 15 people.
A local Afghan official told Reuters that the death toll was higher among senior citizens than women.

It should be noted that every year millions of Afghan citizens turn to Pakistan for medical treatment, education, business and trade while the number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan is still around 3 million.
