SRINAGAR: Indian Army Hawaldar Harvinder Singh ended his life by firing on a government rifle at a military base in occupied Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the bullet-riddled body of Hawaldar Harvinder Singh has been found in the hands of an Indian Army base in occupied Kashmir. The body was taken to a nearby military hospital where the death was confirmed.
The hospital administration said that Hawaldar was shot in the head at close range, which led to his death. However, no comment was received from the army. The body will be handed over to the next of kin after necessary procedure.
Hawaldar Harvinder Singh belonged to the Indian state of Punjab and was recently posted in occupied Kashmir. In Occupied Kashmir, suicides are common among Indian soldiers due to low morale and mental stress. The death toll from such incidents has risen to 470 since 2007.
