Tehran: Iran says it has seized a UAE ship for violating maritime boundaries.
According to a foreign news agency, in response to the firing on Iranian fishing boats by the United Arab Emirates, two people were killed and one boat was taken into custody.
A statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the Emirati ship had been detained for violating the border. The boat had entered Iranian waters in violation of international law. The crew is completely safe.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has also claimed that UAE officials have expressed deep regret over the incident and agreed to pay compensation. Declined to comment.
It should be noted that the United Arab Emirates recently announced the resumption of diplomatic relations with Israel and the signing of a peace agreement between the two countries, which Iran strongly criticized, calling the agreement a betrayal of the Palestinian people
