Terrorist firing on security forces in Waziristan, 2 youths including captain martyred

Captain Sabih and soldier Naveed were martyred and two others were injured when terrorists opened fire on security forces in Waziristan tribal region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), an exchange of fire took place in the encounter with the terrorists, as a result of which one terrorist was killed.

The statement said the patrol team of security forces was attacked 5km southeast of Gariom near the border of North Waziristan tribal region and South Waziristan.

The ISPR further said that the terrorist compound was also cleared in a later operation.

Several security personnel have been killed in militant attacks in North Waziristan District in recent times.

Earlier on June 10, two security personnel were martyred and four others were injured in an explosion near Miranshah in North Waziristan.

A soldier was martyred and three others were injured when an explosive device exploded in a crowded bazaar near Mirali in North Waziristan on May 19.

On May 8, two Pakistani soldiers were killed in a rocket attack on a security check post in the North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

It may be recalled that on April 26, two Pakistani soldiers were martyred and nine terrorists were killed during an operation by security forces against terrorists in North Waziristan.

* Earlier, on April 14, a military official was martyred by terrorists during a security forces operation in North Waziristan.

On April 11, two security personnel were martyred and seven militants were killed in an exchange of fire near Mir Ali Tehsil in North Waziristan.

Earlier on April 8, security forces killed seven terrorists in an operation in the North Waziristan and Mohmand tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
