Attempts to change the disputed status of Occupied Kashmir will fail, says Army Chief

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that the occupying Indian army will never be able to suppress the Kashmiris’ spirit of freedom and despite all the sufferings, the struggle of Kashmiris will be successful and will thwart any attempt to change the disputed status of occupied Kashmir.

A statement issued by the Pakistan Army Public Relations Department (ISPR) said that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Poona sector of the Line of Control (LoC) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. But spent with the young men.

According to the Public Relations Department, while addressing the troops, the Army Chief said that the targeting of unarmed civilians by India on the Line of Control was in fact an attempt to divert attention from the violence in occupied Kashmir.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that Kashmir is a disputed territory and any attempt to change the disputed status of Kashmir would be thwarted.

He said that political or military aggression would also be met with a resounding response and Indian efforts to change the status of Kashmir would be met with national determination and full military force.

He said that the occupying Indian army would never be able to suppress the spirit of Kashmiris and despite all the sufferings, the struggle of Kashmiris would be successful.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that the young men of Pakistan Army are serving far from home for the defense of the motherland and we will continue to serve in a determined manner for the defense of the motherland.

According to the statement, the Army Chief said that the Pakistan Army was celebrating Eid with utmost simplicity as an expression of solidarity with the Kashmiris and it was an honor for a soldier to perform his duties away from home on festivals. So we will keep our promise.

According to ISPR, in his address, the Army Chief said that the people of Occupied Kashmir wanted the right to self-determination as per the UN resolution and despite all the hardships, the struggle of Kashmiris would be successful.

According to the Army Chief, the efforts to destabilize South Asia will have serious consequences and the professionalism and military readiness of Pakistan’s defense, the determination and courage of the soldiers are commendable.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa further said that the people of Occupied Kashmir have been suffering inhumane and illegal lockdown since August 5, 2019 while India wants to divert attention from the serious humanitarian crisis in Occupied Kashmir by violating the Line of Control.

It should be noted that New Delhi had taken a unilateral decision and ended the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year.

Later, on October 31, India formally divided the occupied valley into two federal units.

This month, the authorities in Occupied Kashmir issued a notification clarifying the conditions for obtaining a domicile certificate for government jobs and other benefits in the federal unit, which was rejected by Pakistan.

“The new domicile law is illegal and a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions, international law, including the Geneva Conventions and bilateral agreements between Pakistan and India,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.
