Former captain Shahid Afridi suffers from corona virus

Former national team captain and world-renowned all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi has contracted the corona virus.

“I have not been feeling well for a few days now and I have a lot of pain in my body,” he confirmed on social networking site Twitter.

“After that, I took the Corona test, which unfortunately came back positive,” he said.

Shahid Afridi wrote that I am in dire need of your prayers for a speedy recovery.

It is to be noted that since the outbreak of Corona virus, the former captain has been visiting various provinces and remote areas of the country through his charity organization Shahid Afridi Foundation to help the poor and needy.

Shahid Afridi had visited the tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Balochistan and distributed aid to deserving people there in connection with his welfare work.

Recently, Shahid Afridi was on a visit to Balochistan where a picture of him wearing shoes to a child went viral on social media and people appreciated his move.

When the Corona virus epidemic broke out in the country, the former all-rounder made a conditional offer to work for free with all brands.

He said he was willing to work for free with all brands if given rations and funds.

In view of the same efforts of Shahid Afridi and his foundation, former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh had announced to donate to his foundation.

Speaking at the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industries last week, Shahid Afridi had said that he had no intention of entering politics in the future and that his welfare work should not be politicized.

He had said that the purpose of politics is to give the right to the rightful and he is doing it in politics.

Meanwhile, after being affected by Shahid Afridi’s corona, the Pakistan Cricket Board and former cricketers expressed good wishes for the former captain of the national team and prayed for his speedy recovery.

Cricketer Mohammad Hafeez said that Shahid Afridi is a natural fighter and will soon defeat the virus while wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal also prayed for his speedy recovery.

Representing Pakistan in 27 Tests, 398 ODIs and 99 T20 Internationals, Shahid Afridi scored more than 10,000 runs and took 541 wickets.

Shahid Afridi retired from all forms of international cricket in 2018. However, he has represented various franchises in the Pakistan Super League and was part of Multan Sultan’s team in the recent season.
