National team chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq says the selectors have selected a squad that is expected to perform well in both long and limited styles of cricket in England.
He said that the distance from the players’ field for a long time has been a challenge but he is hopeful that a month of full training in England will bring positive results.
Misbah-ul-Haq has made it clear that the selectors’ priority during the selection of the squad was long-form cricket as Pakistan has to play Test cricket for the next nine months.
The chief selector said that our players have not participated in any competitive cricket since March while the host team will face West Indies before Pakistan, so this series against England will not be easy.
Misbah-ul-Haq said the players have been selected with the future in mind and wished to benefit from the vast experience of young cricketers, Younis Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed.
The head coach said that the return of veteran Sohail Khan would further strengthen the national cricket team’s fast bowling department.
