The United States has imposed new visa restrictions on China

Washington DC: The United States has introduced new visa restrictions on China, which the Chinese Foreign Ministry has described as the result of political pressure and the Cold War mentality.

According to the US News Agency, a Foreign Office spokesman confirmed that new restrictions have been imposed on the issuance of visas to all members of the Chinese Communist Party.

Under the new rules, members of the Chinese Communist Party and their families will be issued a maximum one-month visa to travel to the United States only, on which they will be allowed to visit the United States only once. Earlier, the visa was valid for ten years.
The decision comes just two months after US President Donald Trump stepped down. US President Donald Trump has taken a tougher stance on China in the wake of trade deals and the Corona virus, which has strained relations between the world’s two largest economic powers.

A State Department spokesman accused the Chinese Communist Party of sending agents to intimidate and spy on the activities of Chinese-American groups in the United States and various human rights groups.

The spokesman said the United States had given the Communist Party free access to institutions and business opportunities in the United States for years, while American citizens had never been treated equally in China.

However, the statement did not specify how the ban would be enforced, given that the 9.2 million members of the Chinese Communist Party are not directly involved in political or state affairs.

Earlier, the United States closed its consulate in Houston, prompting China to evacuate its consulate in Shenzhen. In addition, the United States has introduced a number of restrictions on students coming from China, while most foreign students studying in the United States are from China.

Analysts say President Trump’s policy of escalating tensions with China is likely to lead to tougher measures against China before he leaves office, which could put the newly elected president at risk in the future will have.

China’s reaction

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said the US move was against its own interests. Such moves are the work of anti-China elements in the United States who have a Cold War mentality. The move is a step towards political pressure.
