It was a mistake to remove Shaun Masood from the leadership before the sixth edition, Multan Sultans Coach

Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has admitted that it was a mistake to remove Shaun Masood from the leadership and appoint Muhammad Rizwan as the team captain before the sixth edition of the league.

Multan Sultans coach Andy Flower addressed a virtual press conference in Abu Dhabi, during which he was asked about removing Shaun Masood from the leadership, and he admitted his mistake.

He said that this question is absolutely correct and the decision to change the leadership as it approaches the tournament has affected our performance.

“Shaun Masood was a very respectable captain and I admit that he did his job well and performed better than the bat. This change upset our balance,” he said.

However, at the same time, he praised Mohammad Rizwan and said that as a captain, Mohammad Rizwan has played an excellent role and I like the way he thinks about the game.

Andy Flower said that Rizwan is confident and smart, he does justice to the leadership position by performing with the bat and he will play an important role for Pakistan cricket in the future.

The Multan Sultans had appointed Muhammad Rizwan, who had excelled for the national team, as captain in place of Shaun Masood before the start of the sixth edition.

Mohammad Rizwan did well as a batsman in the sixth edition but he failed as captain as the Sultans lost four of the five matches in the early stages of the league.

After the transfer of the league to Abu Dhabi, Multan Sultans will play their first and overall match against Karachi Kings tomorrow.
