Kingston: Pakistan beat West Indies by 109 runs in the second Test to tie the three-match series.
In the second Test match against West Indies in Kingston, Pakistan bowled out the entire West Indies team for 219 runs. Pakistan had given West Indies a target of 329 runs for victory but West Indies failed to achieve this target and lost by 109 runs.
Shaheen Afridi bowled well in the match. Shaheen Afridi took 4 wickets in the second innings and 10 wickets in the match in which he was declared the player of the match. Noman Ali took 3 wickets and Hassan Ali took 2 wickets. Pakistani batsman Fawad Alam dominated the batting, he remained unbeaten on 124 runs.
On the last day of the Test match, West Indies started their incomplete innings with 49 runs for the loss of one wicket. Craig Braithwaite (17) and Alzari Joseph (8) continued their innings, but Alzari (17) was out.
None of the West Indian batsmen, including captain Craig Braithwaite, could match the Pakistani bowlers. Braithwaite’s resistance was crushed to 39 runs. Nikroma Bonner (2), Ruston Chase (0), Jermaine Blackwood (25), Kyle Meyer (32), Jason Holder (47), Kamroch (7) and Joshua de Silva (15) were all dismissed.
On the fourth day of the Test, Kyle Powell scored 23 runs and was run out by Shaheen Shah Afridi while Pakistan bowled out West Indies for 150 runs in the first innings. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi took six wickets, Mohammad Abbas three and Fahim Ashraf one.
Pakistan started their second innings with a 152-run lead, with Imran Butt (37) and Abid Ali (29) all out. Azhar Ali scored 22, Babar Azam 33, Hassan Ali 17 and Faheem Ashraf 9 runs while Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 10 runs.
Pakistan declared their second innings at 176 for six, giving the hosts a target of 329 to win the Test match. In the second innings for West Indies, Jason Hold and Alzari Joseph took 2 wickets each while Craig Braithwaite and Kyle Meyers took one wicket each.
