Government decides to give stipend to mothers for 2 years from birth

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch a sensory development program to keep newborns safe from stunting.

According to Special Assistant Dr. Sania Nishtar, 40% of children in Pakistan are suffering from stunting due to malnutrition and other reasons. The government has developed a development program to protect children from stunting. What is being done, Prime Minister Imran Khan will formally launch the program tomorrow by inaugurating a development center in the Khyber tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Dr. Sania Nishtar said that a budget of Rs. 8.5 billion has been allocated for the first phase of the development program. For girls below 2 years of age, Rs. 2000 will be given on quarterly basis while Rs. 1500 will be given to boys.
According to the Special Assistant, in the first phase of the program, a total of 33 development centers are being set up in 9 districts of the country: Khyber, Upper Dir, Bagh, Ghazar, Hunza, Kharmang, Kharan, Badin and Rajanpur. 33 development centers will be set up
