For the first time in the world, Vivo is introducing flagship phones that use pixel shift technology.
Pixel shift technology has been used in certain DSLR cameras but has not yet become part of any smartphone.
The Vivo X60, X60 Pro and X60 Pro Plus are already available for sale in China but do not have this camera technology.
However, the series is now being launched globally on March 22 in which it is expected to be given camera technology while the processors will also be different.
In China, the X60 and X60 Pro are powered by Samsung’s Exynos 1080 processor, but according to Lex, these phones will use the Snapdragon 870 processor globally, while the X60 Pro Plus will have the Snapdragon 888.
As far as pixel shift technology is concerned, it usually uses a Bayer pattern that sees only one color in a single pixel of a sensor and arranges the red, green and blue pixels according to the Bayer pattern.
The details will be revealed on the occasion of the event on March 22, but according to Lex, after shooting 8 Raw photos, these phones will choose the best of them and fill them with the details of the other 7 photos.
More detailed images will be available with better color accuracy.
All three X60 phones will have this technology and will also help improve digital zoom.
A video of Sony’s Alpha 7RIV explains the technology to some extent.
