BEIJING: The diplomatic war between China and the United States has intensified and China has begun considering closing the US consulate in Wuhan following a US decision to close its consulate in Houston.
According to a foreign news agency, China is considering closing the US consulate in Wuhan following orders to close the Chinese consulate in Houston.
The news agency says sources close to the matter have also confirmed the incident, but the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the US embassy in Beijing have not yet commented on such reports.
Earlier on Wednesday, the United States ordered the closure of the Chinese consulate in Houston, Texas, within 72 hours. The State Department has said the move is aimed at “protecting American intellectual property rights.” However, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman called the US move “unjustified and provocative.”
