T20 World Cup: ICC seeks written assurance from India for Pakistan

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has warned India and asked for a written assurance to provide all facilities to Pakistan in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

The ICC has raised the issue of Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup in India and sought written assurance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The issue was raised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) at the ICC meeting, to which the ICC sought a written reply from India.

The BCCI has also been asked to issue visas to all members of the Pakistani squad and assure foolproof security for the team.

The ICC has made it clear that if the visas and security of the Pakistani squad are not assured, the event will be jeopardized.

India has been told that the PCB has an opportunity to seek a restraining order from the court to stop the event.

It may be recalled that the World Twenty20 will be held in India in October and November 2021, which was earlier postponed in 2020 due to corona virus in Australia.

Schedule T20 World 2020 in Australia was postponed due to corona virus, but was later shifted to India.

In August 2020, the ICC made important decisions regarding the Men’s and Women’s World Cups.

ICC Chief Executive Manu Sohne said: “Our vision for the future of ICC events is very clear now that all our members are focused on rescheduling the postponed matches.

He had said that the T20 World Cup in 2021 would be held in India as per the schedule and Australia would host the event in 2022.

Before Corona’s cricketing activities were affected, Australia had to host the T20 World Cup in October-November 2020, after which India had to host the T20 World Cup in 2021 and the 50-over World Cup in 2023. The decision was made after the board showed disability.

India will host the events under the old plan while the postponed T20 World Cup will now be held in Australia in 2022.
