Star cricketers including Shahid Afridi and Gale join the auction of Lanka Premier League

More than 150 star cricketers from around the world, including Shahid Afridi, Chris Gayle and Shakib Al Hasan, have been shortlisted for the Sri Lanka Premier League (LPL) auction starting November 14 in Sri Lanka.

According to popular cricket website Kirk Info Carport, there are 5 teams in the league and 150 players will be auctioned on October 1.

According to the rules, each team has to select 6 foreign players and a total of 30 international cricketers will play in the league.

Each team in the league will have a squad of 19 players and the number of local players participating in the league will be 65.

According to the schedule, the opening ceremony of the league will be held in Hambantota, Sri Lanka and the matches of the league will be played from November 14 to December 6.

The Sri Lankan Premier League will feature 23 matches in Dambulla, Pallekele and Hambantota.

It may be recalled that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was not completed this year due to the corona virus while other sports competitions including the Indian Premier League (IPL) were postponed.

The corona virus is also a major obstacle for the Sri Lankan Premier League, and the government has so far not allowed any quarantine for players, team management and broadcast staff.

Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) officials have said that the quarantine period for players coming from abroad to participate in the league has been reduced from 14 days to seven days.

There are currently no reports of coronavirus transmission in Sri Lanka locally, but quarantine conditions have been tightened to prevent further spread of the virus from infected people.
