Sri Lanka beat India in T20 series

Sri Lanka beat India by 7 wickets in the third and final T20 to win the series 1-2 thanks to a brilliant four-wicket haul by spinner Venindu Hasaranga, who is celebrating his 24th birthday.

The Indian team suffered its worst defeat in the last T20 on a tour of Sri Lanka without the famous batsman and captain Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

In the match played in Colombo, India captain Shekhar Dhawan won the toss and elected to bat first, but his batsmen failed miserably in front of the Sri Lankan bowlers.

Captain Shekhar Dhawan was bowled out for zero by Chamira off the first over, while Mendis sent Devdith Padikal to the pavilion for 23 in the fourth over.

Venido Hasaranga de Silva did not allow Sanju Samson to open the account, Venido Hasaranga led Raturaj Gekved to the pavilion on a total of 25, who scored 14 runs.

Nitish Rana could add only 6 runs but in this difficult time Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav tried to support the team to take the score to 55 runs but Venido Hasaranga once again gave victory to the host team.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored 16 runs, after which Rahul Chahar 5 and Varun Chakraborty were out for zero.

Chetan Sekriya sided with Kuldeep Nayyar till the end and scored 5 off 9 balls while Kuldeep top scored with 23 off 28 balls.

India managed to score 81 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Sri Lanka’s Venido Hasaranga added four wickets to his 24th birthday.

The hosts got an easy target to win the series, which they achieved at a loss of 3 wickets in the third ball of the 15th over.

Sri Lanka’s Aveshka Fernando and Menod Bhanuka opened the innings with 23 runs and Fernando was dismissed for 12.

The second wicket fell to Menood Bhanuka at 35, who hit 18 off 27 balls with the help of a four.

The last batsman to be dismissed by Sri Lanka was Sadeera Samarawickrama, who added just six runs off 13 balls.

Dhananjaya de Silva batted well and scored an unbeaten 23 off 20 balls with two fours and match hero Venindo Hasaranga scored 14 off 9 balls.

Sri Lanka scored 82 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the fourth ball of the 15th over to win the match by 7 runs while the series was 1-2.

Venindo Hasaranga was declared the best player of the match and the series.
