Resolving Kashmir issue is important for peace and stability in South Asia, Tayyip Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called Kashmir an “unresolved issue” and said it was important for peace and stability in South Asia.

Addressing the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, the Turkish President said that the Kashmir issue is key to stability and peace in South Asia but it has not been resolved to date.

Referring to the steps taken by India on August 5 last year, he said that the steps taken after the end of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status had complicated the issue.

“We are in favor of resolving this issue through dialogue and this issue needs to be resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people in particular,” he said.

The 75th session of the UN General Assembly is unique in that world leaders are speaking online because of the corona virus, rather than in person.

Rajab Tayyab Ardawan said that racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia and hate speech have reached alarming proportions and Muslims face the greatest dangers due to prejudice and ignorance.

He said that it was mainly the politicians who adopted this popular statement for the sake of votes and it was certain people who justified the hate speech in the name of freedom of expression.

He called on the United Nations to declare the March 15 attack on Muslims in New Zealand a “day of global solidarity against Islamophobia.”

Talking about the conflict between Israel and Palestine, the Turkish President said that the only solution to this problem is the establishment of a geographically independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He said that some countries have announced the opening of embassies in Jerusalem in violation of UN resolutions and international law, which has further complicated the Palestinian issue, but Turkey will not support any plan in which The consent of the Palestinian people is not involved.

President Erdoانan stressed the need to resolve the issue of the Eastern Mediterranean through dialogue and said that we are proposing to hold a regional conference in which the rights of the countries of the region and the Turkish Cypriot It should be given space.

He claimed that the biggest obstacle to Cyprus was Greece’s inappropriate attitude and policy.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Cypriot issue can only be resolved by providing security to the Cypriot Turks and their historical and political rights.

“As an international community, we cannot find a lasting solution to the Syrian problem without taking a principled approach to all terrorist organizations,” he said.

India’s protest
Meanwhile, India has protested against China for discussing the Kashmir issue in the UN General Assembly, calling it an interference in its affairs.

Describing the statements of India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations TS Trimurti as serious interference in his country’s internal affairs, he said that Turkey should reconsider its policy while respecting the sovereignty of other countries.

On August 5, 2019, India illegally ended the special status of the Kashmir issue, imposed a curfew there and banned all communications, and since then Pakistan, with the help of China, has raised the issue three times with the United Nations. Raised in the Security Council.

On the other hand, India’s position is that with this ‘legal accession’, Kashmir’s disputed status has ended, so it should be removed from the Council’s agenda.
