WASHINGTON: The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to increase the risk of inflammation of the heart muscle and membranes with the modern and Pfizer biotech vaccines for coronavirus.
According to a foreign news agency, the FDA has included a warning of the risk of heartburn in the fact sheet of Moderna and Pfizer’s Bio-Tech vaccine. The warning was updated after arguments and a comprehensive review by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) advisory committee.
The FDA says a meeting of the CDC and Immunization Practice Advisory Committee reviewed the reports, which found that the side effects of these vaccines, especially after a second dose, included “myocarditis.” There has been an increase in the risk of coronary heart disease and pericarditis.
The U.S. Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System reported more than 1,200 cases of myocarditis and pericarditis by the end of the second week of June, with a significant increase in cases among men after the second dose of the vaccine. ۔
Pfizer and Moderna, meanwhile, have not yet commented on the FDA’s warning.
